As the Director General of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Dr. Firas Al-Abduwani is responsible for shaping and implementing the public policies that support Oman's transition to a low-carbon economy. Al-Abduwani oversees the policy making process covering the electricity market, energy efficiency, renewable energy, low carbon hydrogen, CCUS, the certification of electrons and molecules, EVs and energy storage. With over 15 years of experience as a co-founder, CEO, and board member of various companies in the telecom and energy industries, Al-Abduwani has a proven track record of leading high performance teams and excels in driving entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, and execution. Al-Abduwani is a continuous learner who has acquired and applied technical, managerial, and leadership skills in diverse fields, from telecom private networks to clean energy with numerous scholarships and accolades. He is passionate about contributing to Oman's development and competitiveness, and I am always eager to collaborate with and empower others who share this vision.

Abdulaziz Al Shidhani has more than 20 years of experience in the energy and water sectors. He is currently leading, as Managing Director, the Hydrogen Oman Company SPC (Hydrom), a company launched in 2022 as the central and independent entity orchestrating national interests in the green hydrogen sector. Before joining Hydrom, Abdulaziz served the Ministry of Energy and Minerals as Director General for Renewable Energy and Hydrogen. During his mandate, he led the crafting and implementation of Oman’s Green Hydrogen Strategy, announced in October 2022, and the Oman Energy Transition Policy and Strategy. He also chaired the Alternative Energy Working group as part of the Omani – US strategic dialogue, the Omani – German Energy Dialogue, and other national and regional committees and taskforces.

Prior to bp, Monica spent six years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Monica holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is a chemical and mechanical engineer by training.

Najla , over the past 23 years, Najla has worked in various onshore and offshore upstream Oil and Gas operational roles as well as managerial and consultancy positions in Africa, Europe and the Middle East at globally recognized companies including Vale, Schlumberger Business Consulting, IHS Energy, Shell and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). She possesses strong analytical and leadership skills with track record in deriving and implementing strategies as well as business turnaround solutions. Najla joined Oman Oil Company in 2013 and contributed her extensive experience in helping shape the company’s strategic direction to fulfill the company’s objectives of maximizing value for Oman from its resources. In 2016, Najla was appointed as Executive Managing Director of Takamul Investment Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oman Oil Company, which manages a number Oman Oil Company’s Oman based investments. In 2020, Najla helped set up OQ’s Alternative Energy team and was instrumental in transitioning it to a business line where she became responsible for all Green Molecules Ventures. Under her leadership, OQAE has announced 4 Green Hydrogen ventures in Oman so far with world renowned partners. These projects should cumulatively contribute over 30 GW of renewable power to produce green hydrogen. In 2022, Najla was appointed as Alternative Energy Chief Executive in OQ. Najla has been a Board of Directors member of numerous companies under the OQ Group as well as externally. She is currently the deputy chairperson for HSBC Oman and on the Hydrogen Advisory Board of the Sustainability Energy Council. Najla holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Mathematics with Applied Mathematics/Mathematical Physics from Imperial College, London. She also attained a Master of Science degree in Financial Management from the University of London and participated in Schlumberger’s leadership programme at INSEAD, in France.

David Hone works for Shell International Ltd. and is the Chief Climate Change Adviser in the Shell Scenarios Team. He joined Shell in 1980 after graduating as a Chemical Engineer from the University of Adelaide in Australia. He has worked in refinery technology, oil trading and shipping areas for Shell. David is a board member of C2ES in Washington and GCCSI in Melbourne and is a former board member of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), which he chaired from 2011-2013. David is a regular climate blogger and is the author of a 2017 book on climate change, ‘Putting the Genie Back: Solving the Climate and Energy Dilemma’.

Ahmed Al Abri is a senior executive with extensive experience in processes demanding critical business drivers in the global maritime industry. He started his career as a junior naval architect with Vosper Thornycroft Shipbuilding yard in Southampton and later spent years with the Omani Navy. He gained first-hand knowledge of shipbuilding and extensive maritime experience from participating in major new projects in the UK, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Romania. He later became deputy CEO of Oman Drydock Company in Duqm for three years before becoming CEO of ASYAD Ports, Oman’s Ports operations and management company.

Anne-Sophie Corbeau is a Global Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Her research focuses on hydrogen and natural gas. Anne-Sophie has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry and is a recognized expert on natural gas. She is the author of many publications focusing on gas, LNG markets, Asia, China, India and Africa, including the book “LNG markets in transition: the great reconfiguration” (Oxford, 2016). She is also a member of the Gastech governing body. Prior to joining the Center, Mrs. Corbeau was a senior Leader and head of gas analysis at BP, where she was responsible for advising the Leadership Team on gas market developments and long term pricing assumptions. As part of the Economic and Energy Insights team, she was leading the Energy Outlook’s analysis on gas, industry, nuclear and hydrogen. She also served as a member of BP France’s Comex (board). Before joining BP, she was a Research Fellow at KAPSARC (King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center) in Riyadh where she set up and expanded the natural gas program. She also worked for the International Energy Agency (IEA) where she was responsible for managing the research on global gas markets, and for IHS CERA. She began her career as an engineer working on fuel cells and hydrogen at Peugeot and Debis Systemhaus. Anne-Sophie holds an MSc from the Ecole Centrale Paris and an MSc from the University of Stuttgart.

Allan has worked at Societe Generale for eight years and has been involved in the power sector for more than 30 years, initially as an engineer and then in finance. During his career he has advised on and/or financed power projects in Europe, MENA, the US and Asia, and in sectors ranging from green-field renewable energy, through gas and coal, to the acquisition of large international power portfolios. Allan has extensive experience in the clean energy sector, including recently taking a leading role in the offshore wind sector. Most recently he has acted as Financial Advisor to a floating wind project, Dudgeon (400MW) and London Array (630MW) in the UK and the successful Borssele III&IV bid (700MW) in the Netherlands. He also advised an Asian client on the successful acquisition of an equity stake in a 900MW offshore wind development in Europe. In addition to his advisory assignments, Allan has been involved in arranging debt for several EUR1bn+ offshore wind projects in Europe. In the wider clean energy sector, Allan has also played a leading role in carbon capture & storage field having advised on White Rose, Teesside Industrial CCS and Donn Valley projects in the UK, as well as serving on the UK Government’s original CCS Forum and leading the commercial section of the CCS Cost Reduction Task Force. Allan has a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer.

Hyerin is a Senior Business Developer for green hydrogen projects in the Middle East, based in Dubai. ENGIE’s business purpose is to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, with net zero targeted in 2045, and hydrogen is an integral part of the transition. In line with ENGIE’s clean energy ambitions, her goal is to leverage ENGIE’s expertise in the development and trade of integrated value chain of low-carbon fuels. In the past 18 years, she held various positions in the EPC industry in the capacities of corporate strategy, project finance and business development and led ENGIE’s sustainable infrastructure business development as the Head of Public-Private Partnerships in Saudi Arabia. A significant part of her work was dedicated to planning, developing, and financing of large-scale urban, infrastructure, mining, and real estate projects in various geographies around the world. Her work in delivering cross-sector capital projects brought her to the Middle East in 2017 through POSCO, whom ENGIE has recently joined forces in winning the Hydrom Auction in Oman. After a bachelor in chemistry, X.R. Crispin obtained his PhD in 2000 at the University of Mons, Belgium in quantum chemistry. With a Marie Curie fellowship, he was trained as a postdoc at Linköping University, Sweden in the area of photoelectron spectroscopy. In 2004, Xavier joined the Laboratory of Organic Electronics to do research on organic transistors. For his work on organic thermoelectrics, he received the ERC-starting grant (2011), the Tage Erlander Prize (2012) and the Göran Gustafsson prize (2016). Michael’s experience includes working as the Project Manager and Technical Lead for the Arrowsmith Green Hydrogen Development, where the plant produced 25tpd of LH2 and high-pressure gaseous H2 from solar PV and wind. Owners Engineer for a 3GW wind to ammonia production facility located in Bahia Gente Grande, Chile. Study lead for a 300MW wind and solar PV to e-methanol production facility in Spain which involved technology selection, optimised plant and renewable configuration modelling, and CAPEX / OPEX modelling for scenarios.

Shaji John is an Electrical Engineer, has an Executive MBA from SP JAIN, Mumbai and he is also a Certificated Project Management Associate, IPMA Switzerland. He is responsible for Business Development and Sales for Ohmium, a Green Hydrogen Technology Company since June 2022. In his previous role with L&T, Shaji John was responsible for developing the renewable energy business and ensuring that L&T was well placed to capture considerable market share in the emerging clean energy space. The Solar Initiative was started under his leadership back in 2008 and reached a portfolio of over ~ 8 GW of Solar projects, 150 MWHr of Battery Energy Storage Systems and 500 Microgrids. He was also responsible for securing one of the largest contracts from the NEOM Green Hydrogen project, involving 3 GWp Solar, 1.5 GW Wind, 500 MWHr of Batteries and associated Grid Management Systems.
