Biography

Julieta Nikova is a climate change, chemicals, and sustainability expert with
professional experience of more than 15 years as expert in international and
governmental organizations.

Currently, Julieta is working as Methodologies Manager at Global Carbon Council (GCC), Doha, Qatar developing robust and scientifically sound baseline and monitoring methodologies for quantification of GHG emission reductions applicable to various mitigation technologies and measures.

Julieta holds master’s degree in environmental engineering and bachelor’s degree with two majors in biotechnology and in ecology and environmental protection.
She is the acting member of Socio-economic Analysis Committee to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) supporting the preparation of the opinions of ECHA related to the socioeconomic impacts of possible legislative actions on chemicals following EU chemicals legislative processes.

Prior to taking current role at GCC, Julieta worked for 7 years as expert at Standards Setting Unit and Small-scale methodologies team at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Bonn, Germany. She also worked as expert with the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry on implementation of legislation for sustainable management of chemicals, with the Bulgarian Ministry on Environment and Water on implementation of the EU Emission trading scheme (ETS), assessment of Joint Implementation projects, and elaboration of GHG inventories, climate change action plans and strategies. Worked with private sector on environmental protection projects of oil and gas exploration and production.
