Project Manager Energy Cooperation with the Gulf region,
Associate Director, Guidehouse Matthias Schimmel (M.Sc.) is a Managing Consultant at Guidehouse and an expert on renewable hydrogen, industrial decarbonization and sustainable transport.

He currently manages the bilateral energy cooperation with the countries Gulf region on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and is lead of implementation for the energy dialogue with Saudi Arabia. Other key engagements focus on renewable hydrogen application across sectors and supporting policy instruments, techno-economic assessment of breakthrough technologies and transformation pathways for key industry sectors.

Prior to joining Guidehouse, Matthias worked for almost three years as a project management consultant in the automotive industry for clients such as BMW and Volkswagen. He studied industrial engineering with majors in environmental management and biotechnology and has a Master’s in Environmental Sustainability with a focus on energy policy and politics.
