Biography
Dr. Juergen Meinhardt studied solid state physics at the Technical University of
Dortmund. In the Department of Chemical engineering, he subsequently obtained
his PhD in the field of “Segregation, Nanocrystallization and Quasicrystal
Formation in Zr-based Glasses”. Since 1998, he has been working at the
Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC, where he initially took over the
deputy heads of the two groups Analytics and Sinter Optimization. In 2012, he
became head of the “Center for Applied Analytics.” Since 2013, he has been Head

2021 also R&D in the new field of quantum biosensors. As a project manager, he has worked at Fraunhofer ISC in various fields, including glass, ceramics and cement development, as well as in the field of Bio Materials for stem cell process technology.
Since 2021, he has also been coordinating research and development on
hydrogen technologies at Fraunhofer ISC, and he represents the ISC in the
European project “SUNER-C: SUNERGY Community and eco-system for
accelerating the development of solar fuels and chemicals”. In the joint project
“SalalaH2 – Accompanying research” – “Technology development, certification
and capacity building for the international market ramp-up of green hydrogen
and its derivatives in the MENA region using the example of the SalalaH2- Project
in Oman” he is responsible for the coordination of the technology development.
