Mr. Ahmed Ali Akaak is the Special Economic Zone’s acting CEO. Duqm SEZ is a model of an integrated economic development composed of eight zones with a land area of more than 2000 km2. Other than the world-class port with dry dock facilities, Duqm has a free trade zone, an industrial area, a refinery, an airport, strategic oil tanks as well as residential and commercial facilities.
Mr, Akaak worked as Advisor to the Minister of Transport for Ports, where he works to strengthen the global position of Omani ports so that it becomes a leader in productivity and efficiency as well best practices.
He also was a Group Chief Marketing Officer at Asyad which is the largest government logistics holding company within the country that oversees over 16 companies that cover ports, free zones, and other multimodal transportation & freight activities.
Mr, Akaak was Deputy Chief Executive Officer Port of Salalah Deputy Chief Executive Officer where he brings extensive broad industry knowledge and executive experience in all aspects of port industry management, including strategic planning and organizational development both nationally and internationally.
Mr. Akaak’s background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in planning from
the US and Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management.
He was part of APMT Maersk global leadership team and has
undergone various high profiles training on leadership, crisis
management, negotiations, time management, motivation and conflict
management, and advanced communications. In addition to Business
Way of Winning by IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
